Napier reunion 2008 Print E-mail

The 2nd re union (35th Year Anniversay of being deployed) of the "Mururoa Veterans' Society' was held in Napier at the Napier RSA from Fri 16 to Sunday 18 May 2008.

Other highlights (apart from catching up with old Canterbury and Otago crew) was a presentation by This e-mail address is being protected from spam bots, you need JavaScript enabled to view it of RIMPAC on war pension matters, a prison tour lead by Phil Doran, a brewery visit organised by Henare and Phil (Aspro), a fantastic dinner on Saturday night, attended by Veterans Affairs Minister Rick Barker and the Navy's admiral at the time of Mururoa protests Rear Admiral E.C.Thorne CB CBE.

Sunday saw a fantasic church service lead by the Resident Chaplan Napier RSA and ex RNZN Bill Chapman.

 Māori TV was at the reunion and produced the event was on TV in the Māori Affairs show on Monday 26 May - Thank you

However, comments made by the reporters father is not generally agreed with by reunion participants near the end where he said " I know of no person who was at mururoa on both ships that have any problems".
